1 John 4:4 (KJV)  You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

About Us

I, Angela Corrigan, am the executive director of Greater Is He ministry.  I received my master's degree in social work (MSW) from the University of Illinois in 2006.  I have always felt that God led me into my career, gave me a heart to open a home for women, and provided this opportunity.  Through seemingly small moments, big changes, various relational connections, and internships & experiences along the way, I have been led to this exact moment, this exact purpose.  I continually pray for God's will & guidance as this ministry operates and expands.

Greater Is He is a ministry to provide faith-based support to women who are released from prison, and will hopefully grow into many other programs aimed at this same population.  The transitional home itself is referred to as The N.E.S.T. - a Nurturing Environment for a Successful Transition.  The N.E.S.T. is designed to provide the ladies with a new way of living, thinking, and behaving that should prevent their return to prison.  Each woman housed in Decatur women's prison carries a cost to the state (taxpayers) of $38,000 a year, and we hope to put a stop to the revolving door.  The women who will be provided services are referrals from prison chaplains, wardens, and current prison ministry programs.  Since the women are current participants in the bible studies and services provided in prison, they are aware of The N.E.S.T.'s programs, faith-based & biblical focus, and are committed to making spiritual changes.

We operate under a board of directors, and have been an approved 501c3 non-profit organization since 2010.  I continue to tour churches & attend public forums to spread the word about the home in order to gain continued sponsorship and refresh the volunteer base.  I also regularly attend meetings and Reentry Summits in the prison to tell inmates about this opportunity that exists within Decatur and screen them for the program.

Please hear more about us by joining us for our first annual fundraiser June 8th, 2012.  It is at the Beach House, 2301 E Lakeshore Dr in Decatur, IL 62521 from 6:30 to 9pm.  The event will feature live music from 48 Connection, hors d' ouevres, drinks, desserts, and a "Pick-Your-Prize" raffle.  Please purchase tickets through the "Contact Us" portion of this website or at angela_corrigan2@yahoo.com.

On a daily basis, we have a housemother oversees activities of the house, maintains order there, and provides spiritual guidance and support to the residents.  Other staff and volunteers also lead bible studies and give spiritual or life skills guidance as the women of the home grow and gain independence.  The home provides an environment of accountability, prayer, and support.

If you are interested in volunteering, or would like to support the ministry, please see the "How You Can Help" tab above.  God's hand is over this home and has provided graciously from the largest need to the smallest detail.  Please continue to pray for the residents, volunteers, and staff of the home, and support the ministry as God places it on your heart!
